THSSDL State - April 19
At the 2008 State Tournament held on April 19, Kristin Fowler won the $500 THSSDL Scholarship and Teddy Huerta won an individual state championship in Congressional Debate. Rochelle Breen placed 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking and Mandy Martin placed 3rd in Dramatic Interpretation. Lacy Pearce placed 4th in Humorous Interpretation. Kelsey Marsh placed 5th in Poetry and Emily Stark placed 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Congress Nat Quals - April 5
Congratulations to the DCHS Forensic Team for winning their sixth consecutive state championship in NFL Congressional Debate at MBA on Saturday, April 5th Chosen for the Tennessee team to Nationals on Saturday were: James deMoss who placed 2nd in the Senate and Kristin Fowler, who was named state champion in Congressional debate in her chamber of the House of Representatives.
1st alternate to nationals in Chamber 1 of the House of Representatives is Rochelle Breen. 2nd alternate to nationals in the House of Representatives is Keith Brake. Other alternates to nationals are: Emily Stark, Teddy Huerta, and Sophie Bell. Elected Presiding Officer in their chambers were Emily Stark and Teddy Huerta.
THSSDL District II - April 4
The DCHS Forensic Team won their 16th consecutive District THSSDL championship on Friday, April 4. DCHS students advancing to the THSSDL State Individual Events tournament are: In Oratory: Steven Winterfeldt (4th) and Kristin Fowler(5th). In After Dinner Speaking: Will Olphie (3rd). In Solo Acting: Sophie Bell In Duet Acting (5th): Robert Weisenfels and James deMoss (3rd) In Duo Interpretation: Taylor Zimmerman and Farah Abdullayeva (2nd). In Storytelling: Betsy Chapman (3rd). In Mime: Jacob Wuertz (1st), Cassandra Landers (2nd), and Ashley LeGros (4th). In Extemporaneous Speaking: Emily Stark (3rd) and Rochelle Breen(2nd). In Prose Interpretation: Marcus Cox (3rd). In Poetry Interpretation: Kelsey Marsh2nd). In Humorous Interpretation: Lacy Pearce (4th). In Dramatic Interpretation: Mandy Martin (1st). In Congress: Keith Brake (4th in extemp) and Teddy Huerta (6th in OO). Also placing, but not going to state are: Lauren Stephens (4th) in Solo, Tyler Springer (5th) and Spencer Truett (6th) in ADS. Quintin Burlingame and Kayla Warden (6th) in Duo Interpretation. Chuck Somerville (6th) and Jessica Smotherman (5th) in Storytelling. Members of the ATA class placed 3rd in Interp Theatre with Ant farm and 4th place One Act Play.
NFL Quals - February 19 - March 1
DCHS Forensic team meber Rochelle Breen was an alternate in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking. Semifinalists were Keith Brake in HI and Mandy Martin in DI.
Collierville - February 2
The DCHS Forensic Team placed 2nd in the Collierville HS Tournament near Memphis this past Saturday. First went to Ravenwood HS and third to Brentwood Academy. Individual awards went to the following DCHS students: In Poetry 6th place was Jocie Green and 5th place was Kelsey Marsh In Oratory 5th place went to Teddy Huerta and 3rd place to Kristin Fowler In Extemporaneous Speaking 4th went to Betsy Chapman, 3rd to Race Sorden, 2nd to Teddy Huerta, and 1st to Emily Stark In Dramatic Interpretation 4th place went to Mandy Martin In Duet Acting 4th place went to James de Moss & Robert Weisenfels In Solo Acting 2nd place went to Mandy Martin In Public Forum Debate 2nd place went to Rochelle Breen & Steven Winterfeldt In Impromptu 1st place went to James de Moss In Humorous Interpretation 2nd place went to Lacy Pearce and 1st place went to Kristin Fowler
Creek Wood - January 12
Saturday, January 12, the DCHS Forensic team traveled to Creek Wood HS for the first tournament of the second term. The team placed first over Ravenwood with a score of 218 to 192. Individual awards went to the following DCHS students: In Oratory Kristin Fowler placed 3rd, Teddy Huerta won 2nd, and Steven Winterfeldt won 1st. In Prose Interpretation, 5th place went to Steven Winterfeldt and Marcus Cox took 2nd. In Humorous Interp, Cassandra Landers placed 6th, Kristin Fowler 4th, Keith Brake 2nd, and Lacy Pearce 1st. In Dramatic Interp, Jocie Green won 3rd place and Mandy Martin took 2nd. In Poetry, Jacklyn Moreno won 4th place, Kelsey Marsh won 3rd, and Mandy Martin won 2nd. Lacy Pearce placed 5th in Storytelling. In After Dinner Speaking, Will Olphie placed 6th, Paul Simmons 5th, and Tyler Springer 4th. In Solo Acting, Sophie Bell placed 6th, Rochelle Breen won 3rd, and Mandy Martin won 1st. In Duet, Robert Weisenfels and James deMoss placed 4th and Kelsey Marsh and Jessica Greer placed 3rd. Kelsey Marsh and Jessica Greer also placed 6th in Duo. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Race Sorden won 5th place. 3rd place went to Rochelle Breen, 2nd to Keith Brake, and 1st to Emily Stark. In Congress, Tyler Spring placed 6th, Race Sorden won 4th, Sophie Bell placed 3rd, and James deMoss won 1st place. The Presiding Offcer was Taylor Phillips.

Belmont - October 26-27
The DCHS Forensic Team competed at Belmont University Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27. They placed first out of 18 schools in the overall debate and individual events sweepstakes with a score of 381, 2nd went to BGA with 225, and 3rd to Brentwood HS with 158. They also placed first in the Individual Events Sweepstakes with a score of 372, 2nd went to Brentwood Academy with 172 and 3rd to Merrol Hyde Magnet School with 82 points.
